LCD Wall Mounts and Plasma Brackets
After purchasing a LCD TV or a Plasma TV, then comes the decision of where to put the new TV. Do you place it on a table or do you mount it on the wall? Most people are choosing to mount their TV's on walls for better viewing and also to save floor space. To be able to mount a LCD or Plasma TV safely on the wall, it is necessary to choose appropriate LCD wall mounts or Plasma brackets.
Before choosing the brackets or mounts, there are three very important considerations which should be reviewed before purchasing any LCD wall mounts or Plasma brackets.
1. Size. Find a bracket or mount that fits the size of the LCD or Plasma TV. The bracket or mount should not be wider than the TV because that would detract from the attractiveness of TV.
2. Weight Capacity. It is important to know how much the TV weighs. Then choose a mount or bracket that has the necessary weight capacity to hold up the TV safely.
3. VESA Standards. VESA stands for Video Electronics Standards Association. Most TV's and brackets and mounts have standard hole patterns. It is important to have compliant hole patterns. VESA standards are in millimeters. 100 x 100 VESA standards are for 14 "-22" screens, 100 x 200 for 23"-32" TV screens, and 600 x 400 and 800 x 400 for large screen 37"-60" screen TV's. All LCD wall mounts and plasma brackets have two principle parts, a back plate that screws into the wall and a front plate that screws into LCD or plasma TV.
After these considerations, then it is necessary to choose which LCD wall mounts or plasma brackets will fit the needs of TV viewing and the room in which the TV is to be placed. There are three main different kinds of brackets and mounts.
Standard Fixed Flat Mounts or Brackets
This mount/bracket allows for the TV to be placed on a wall like a picture. The mount/bracket takes up the least amount of space; they only add up to a couple inches to the depth of the LCD/plasma TV. These mounts/brackets are among the least expensive and easiest of the different kinds of mounts/brackets to install.
Tilting Mounts or Brackets
These mounts or brackets are able to move the TV up and down. Tilting mounts provide typically around a 15 degree angle change in position. These mounts/brackets are great for bedrooms because people are usually lying in bed watching the TV and titling the TV helps being able to see the TV better. The tilting of the TV and adjusting the angles also helps eliminate glare problems on the screen.
Articulated-Arm Swivel Mounts or Brackets
These mounts/brackets allow the TV to be moved in any direction. These mounts or brackets are great for rooms with flexible seating arrangements because the TV can be positioned in endless ways to accommodate different viewing angles. These mounts/brackets can also be pulled away from the wall.
